Private Instruction
Private Instruction ($120/60min for up to 3 people)
I am a specialist in teaching somatic behaviour. In addition to specific skills such as handstanding, tumbling and acrobatics and I can offer private instruction all aspects of developing physical abilities such at flexibility, strength, and stability regardless of whether it is for corrective/rehabilitative or elite level developmental purposes.
Class Descriptions
Bending Backwards ($50/90min) *Has prerequisites
The goal of this class is to aid you in progressing your ability to bend backwards within the context of nurturing skills that support dynamic aerial and acrobatic applications such as hollow-back handstands, walkovers, limbers, handsprings, etc.
Paramount will be a focus on body awareness and progressive development of the essential foundations. Instruction will include how to maintain functional integrity while in overhead arm support and spinal extension. It will address aspects of the skill that have been problematic and whose solutions have been elusive. You will get expert assessment and creative effective customized training approaches.
Prerequisites: Hold a 30 second handstand against a wall; a push-up to bridge with 30 second hold.
Flexibility ($50/90min)
Experience refined and effective methods of stretching These classes emphasizes, alignment, muscle control, and use both passive and neuromuscular techniques to increase one’s range of motion.
– Lower body includes regions from the low back through to the toes
– Shoulders/Hips focuses the body/limb connections
– Upper body includes regions from the middle back through to the fingers
Handstands ($50/90min)
The goal of this all level class is to either help you get started or address aspects of your handstand journey that have been problematic and whose solutions have been elusive. You will get expert assessment and guidance. You will learn effective training approaches that will be safe to do on your own. Instructions will address all aspects of handstanding such as balancing, pressing, one-arm and/or posture variations with a focus on body awareness and progressive development of the essential foundations.
Healthy, Happy, Wrists (60min/$45)
Our wrists do so much work for us, whether it be manual tasks like keyboard use or athletic training. For many, the wrists are the main region the fails in acrobatic pursuits, especially when using your arms as legs. Even without a history of trauma people often struggle with load bearing exercises (planks, handstands, bridges etc.) or with grip demands and express concerns about sore wrists or tingling in their hands.
Come learn and practice techniques to build strength and resilience in this important joint to support the longevity of your wrists.
PLE (Physical Limitation Elimination ($55/120min)
PLE (Physical Limitation Elimination) is a way of approaching somatic learning that can benefit everyone of all fitness levels, from all disciplines. PLE is for everyone who wants to learn to exercise more intelligently and improve their physical abilities. Akin to physical therapy for athletic development, PLE incorporates aspects of Orthopedics, Osteopathy, Neuromuscular Reeducation, mental training, Alexander Technique, Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, calisthenics, and current scientific research to assess and address an individual’s limitation. Regardless of if you are rehabbing, prehabbing, maintaining or developing, PLE will be able to design effective progressions which best suit your needs.
Using suspension training, partner work, balance games, core exercises, movement puzzles and much more you will discover your limitations and learn safe and appropriate ways to challenge and move beyond them. You will sweat and laugh as you develop greater body awareness and nurture the ability to fine-tune movement precision
Prehab Shoulder/Hip (60min/$45)
The body awareness based class will focus on the strengthening, stretching, and stabilizing of structures of the shoulders and hips with the aim of improving function, minimizing ‘loss of training time’ injuries’, and developing healthy training practices.
Spine, Abs, Core 8:15pm-9:15pm (60min/$45)
Understanding the difference between managing your spine, engaging abdominal integrity and the ability to transfer forces amongst your limbs will significantly change how you approach training. This understanding is essential if one wants to achieve and sustain high level athletic ability. Not just an “abs’ class this class will focus individually on spinal, abdominal and axial strength and as well put it all together to give you a sophisticated workout that will not only improve your movement integrity but also refine your body awareness.
Tumbling/Acrobatics ($50/90min)
This class starts with a complete warm-up and then proceeds to basic tumbling such as rolls, cartwheels and round-offs. Attendees with interest and prerequisite abilities may move on to more advanced variations and challenging skills such as dives, springs and flips.
