Lab Attire: REUSE-TO-REDUCE-WASTE PROGRAM
FAQ
What are you offering?
What I offer for purchase is used lab attire that I have taken home, gotten professionally laundered (bleached (when appropriate), pressed, packaged) and then stored.
What is the cost?
What I ask for in cost from you is basically an amount that offsets the cost of the cleaning and the management of what is essentially a reuse-to-reduce-waste program. The inventory lists the prices.
What is the condition of the attire?
The condition of the attire ranges from like-new, to light to moderately stained, to drawn-on with sharpies and personalized. All are cleaned, sanitized and in very good condition. I perceive all of them as equally functional and haven’t differentiated them based on visual aesthetics. You have to take a bit of risk in this regard.
Do you have my size?
I have available what you see in the inventory spreadsheet which includes as much label information that I could decipher. Beyond that your guess is as good as mine. Here is a link showing a size chart website I found that may be helpful.
How do I reserve an item?
Send me the item number(s) of your choice(s) from the inventory. Since I will be handling multiple requests, let me know your first through third choice in case I receive multiple requests before I can update the inventory. If you want more than one item, do this procedure for each item. Please include your full name with your reservation request.
I will do my best to keep the inventory list refreshed as items become unavailable and note the date of the latest update at the bottom of the document.
Please allow at least a few days to hear back from me.
Why are you doing this?
In an effort to minimize the amount of (reusable) lab attire that I have seen discarded to trash destined for landfill I begun collecting ‘to-be discarded’ attire at the completion of workshops. My motive is to slow the filling of landfills, not to make income.
Can I donate my used lab attire once I no longer need it?
If you have a lab attire you no longer need you can show your support for my reuse-to-reduce-waste program and donate your used attire. If it is attire which you received through this program I will not refund your payment since you are paying for the laundering costs. This will essentially mean you rented the attire rather than purchased it which I think is still a value for you. I would certainly prefer this over discarding a reusable item into a landfill.
Thanks,
Jim
